Katie O’Brien knew she wanted to be a singer when she learned and sang The National Anthem from listening to the Detroit Tigers’ baseball games as a two-year-old.
From that point, music became a natural part of her life as she participated in church and school choirs, learned piano, played oboe in an orchestra, and played the leading roles in several musical theatre and opera performances.
Such appearances include: Julie Jordan in Carousel, Sara Brown in Guys and Dolls, Fiona MacLaren in Brigadoon, The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, Gabby/Bobbi in City of Angels, and The Governess in The Turn of the Screw. Katie also found her passion for jazz and acoustic music in college, and began performing in various local coffee shops and cafés around Michigan and then Boston.
After receiving her Master’s degree in Classical Voice from The Boston Conservatory, her passion expanded to include pop and rock performances, making special appearances in several bands throughout the New England area. She continues to explore all avenues of singing, aiming to please audiences everywhere!
